TO MEXICO!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey family,
I have gone to the consulate and now have my visa and will get my travel plans tomorrow! I leave the 11th of June. The only downfall is that is 2 weeks away. It's going to be pretty hard to keep my mind here in Utah for those 2 weeks but I'm really going to try.
The consulate wasn't really at all what I expected. I went over there with Udall. It was pretty good to see what he's been up to and talk for awhile. He has been transferred 4 times here! All we did was take some pics and sign some papers and that was that. There was about 10 elders from the MTC there going to another mission in Mexico so we had to wait awhile.
This week has been fairly good. I'm getting along OK with my companions but every once in awhile we have to talk some things over.
One of the Elders is always talking about NOT being in Argentina. He is so down about it. One day this week he said something about it so I just told him "Man, you have got to get your spirits up about this." (something like that)
He then said "You already have your thing! You don't have to worry now!"
Me: "I've been worrying for two months!" That was that.
Then yesterday it got brought up again when we were talking with some senior missionaries. She said there was work to do where ever you are. I said yep, and we are here for a reason.
Then the Elder said "My call letter says Argentina"
I looked at Sis. Simpson and she looked really awkward and looked at me. I got pretty mad when he did that. I didn't say anything all day until that night. I wasn't sure if I was going to or not because I didn't want to make it worse or anything but felt that I really should do it. So I told him that he has to get happier about being here. There is a reason he is here and if God wanted him to be in Argentina right now, he would be there. He's not going to let some Argentine consulate stop Him from His work. I also said if he didn't make the best of his time here his whole mission would suck.
I don't know if he took it bad or good. He barely said anything during this and seemed mad. All he said was that he should just forget about the whole visa thing. I told him he doesn't have to do that, he just has to realize why he is here and pray to be able to do that. We haven't spoken about that since so we'll see how it all works out.
I love and miss you all!

Hey Mom & Dad!
Another P-day here in Utah. Not too much happened today. Shopped all morning, e-mailed, then played soccer. It was OK. I've only played volleyball that one time out here & football once. All we ever play is basketball or soccer. We almost played Ultimate Frisbee but the sprinklers were on. I'm sure I'll play a lot of soccer once I get to Mexico but I want to do the other sports while I'm here. It was really hot today too.
Oh, before I forget, Michael still hasn't sent the micro SD card so see if he can put IZ songs on there. Anything else like that would be good too.
Thanks for the package! Those envelopes will really help. Also, the stamps cause once again I forgot them. I even wrote it in huge letters on my list. I don't know why I always space these.
It's almost time to get back to work. P-days just aren't long enough. I'll probably have to finish this tonight. I once again can't think of what happened this week. We'll see if I remember or see if something interesting happens tonight.
Oh, my warts are officially gone! I think, you can barely see where they used to be.
Tonight we talked with a guy. He started talking with us 1st & I thought he was a member. I asked if he knew anyone that spoke Spanish. He said his wife did. We found out he's Christian. He said he read a little of the Book of Mormon. The whole time we were talking I kept thinking I should ask if he prayed about it. I kept trying to jump in but Elder Hernandez eventually asked that. He pretty much deflected the question & just said he prays all the time. I asked "Specifically about the Book of Mormon?" He went around that question as well. He kept doing that. Nothing came of it but it was funny to see him doing that.
Oh, the other day we were just starting up a bridge to get over the highway. I turned into the ramp & all of a sudden Elder Hernandez & I both fell. We have no clue what happened. He wasn't close to me or anything. It was really weird.
Tonight I saw a lady that did not shave her legs. It was almost as long as mine but not as much. I've seen that a few times since I've been here. I can't really think of anything else we'll see what I come up with during the night.
Just tell me what's going on at home.
Love you!
Aaron
Oh, Thibert is so skinny that at night, even when it's at 72 degrees, he freezes. He wears long johns, a sweater, sweat pants, & has 2 blankets. Last night I turned both the heat & cold off. I woke up really hot & saw the heat was back on. I can't sleep when it's hot! We'll see how it goes in Mexico.
I LOVE YOU!!!
Oh, also yesterday Elder Hernandez was talking about Mexico in English to a guy. He said they don't have laws about noise level & molesting people. The guy looked a little confused. I told him it just meant bugging people. In Spanish it's molestar.

Transferred!
Hey everyone!
Well, I have now been transferred. I really didn't want to because I got to know a lot of the people there in Midvale. One of the families kids made some cards for me. That is probably the family I'm going to miss most over there. I got some video of two of the kids, the boys, shuffling so I will send that once I GET MY OTHER SD CARD. It might already be here if you sent it. If not that would be great if you would.
I'm now in West Jordan, so even closer to the Nelson's probably. I'm in the River 9th ward. My comps are Elder Hernandez, native Mexican, and Elder Thibert, a Viking's fan. It's going OK over here. We have had some conflicts with one of my companions. He is really prideful and acts like he is above us. We have had some good 'chats' the last couple days. One thing was I brought the guitar over with me from Midvale. I found out that about 5 min. being here he text the District Leader and told them that and he thought it would be a problem. He didn't even know me or wait to see if it was a problem. There's a lot more stuff but we have talked to him and it seems to be getting better.
My other companion is pretty cool. You wouldn't expect it but he is crazy about football. He's really tall and REALLY skinny. He never played so he's just one of those that talks and knows a lot about it. He wants to be a sports caster so we'll see. He gets annoyed way to easy.

We had 3 baptisms yesterday. I don't think I can count those as some of mine. I never taught them.
We had a big fiasco at church yesterday. Long Story. Luckily it all worked out.
Oh, we are still on bikes. I am riding a girls bike. It doesn't really look like one but it just has the slanted bar. I hate that bike. It rides really nice but the seat is pretty much just metal and no matter how hard you tighten the handle bars, they still move.
I had my first real bike wreck. I jumped over a curb and there was another curb in front of me. I lifted the front tire, which I do all the time, and when the back tire hit it all went from there. The handle bars rolled forward, throwing me forward a little and the chain came off making it so my feet just dropped. I threw the bike a little and hit the grass. My head just about hit a fire hydrant. All that happened was I got some grass stains on my shirt and a little cut on my hand. I put the chain back on and got a ton of grease on my hands. That was what I looked like going to the last house that night. Well, that was my week. I guess I'll see if I get my visa this week. Thanks for all of the letters!

Not Sure...
Hey everyone!
Not too sure what I'm going to be writing since we talked yesterday. I was really glad to be able to finally do that. Elder Harvey didn't really care that I talked so long. He talked for 2 hours. I had told him I was going to talk longer than him so I just kept going. Then I heard him starting to make a shake so I went even longer.
Oh, so it was the perfect timing to end the call. Right when I hung up, click, the phone died. The land lady came and gave us some food and I was still on the phone. She asked Elder Harvey if I was breaking any rules and he said no. He understands, he said if they are only going to give us 40 min. they might as well not give us any time. Anyway, it was great to be able to do that. I can't wait until I can call from the airport.
I saw Udall today at Wal-Mart. He got transferred again from the Tongan ward to English. He has had to move 3 times since he's been here! He is expecting to be moved again on Wednesday. I'm kind of glad I haven't had to do that.
Still trying to think about what else happened. I probably won't write home because I forgot to get stamps, again! I did get my haircut today. I am so glad I finally got that done.
Oh, we went over to a families house, the girls is 9. When we got there we could hear them inside but they didn't answer the door. We knocked forever. We left for a little bit and went back. I saw the shades move and them run to the back of the house. We left again for about a half hour and went back. Her parents were there. She looked so bummed when she saw us. She was on date for this next Sunday but her dad hasn't been taking her to church. He's been playing soccer! We are going to figure all of this out. He tells us every week that he is going to take her but then just doesn't. He use to go every week. We shall see.
Well, not much else. I love and miss you all!

Out of NOWHERE!
Well, one more week gone. It went alright.
There are a few things that I can remember right now. A couple days ago we were at some apartments and Elder Harvey said we should go see a girl we're teaching. Her car was gone but we decided to go anyway. When we were almost to her door we heard a guy behind us say "Hey guys." We have no clue where he came from. We both though we had looked in that direction and didn't see anyone. He said his name was Jesus. He said it was ironic that we were there because the night before he felt God for the first time.
He said he was wanting to change and not do the bad things he has done in his life anymore. I did see he had the three dot triangle by his eye, which I don't know exactly what it is but that its some gang. He said he had stopped doing drugs last week and is doing good with that. He then said every time he thought about God he got goosebumps. He rolled up his sleeve and looked down and then paused, I think he was thinking about God at that point.
This could definitely be a trick that got played on us, especially with later events that have happened, but sure enough his arm was normal and then he got goosebumps. I thought it was pretty interesting. He made an appointment with us but wasn't there. We have been getting calls in the middle of the night from the number he gave us.
Elder Harvey called it before that happened and isn't sure if he wrote the wrong one down. One night they called 5 times in a row. I only heard one, luckily, but I answered it last night and she asked who I was. It got disconnected and she didn't call back. Hopefully that is done. So, we aren't too sure about Jesus but we will keep trying to meet with him at least one more time.
Yesterday we met a big group of dumb kids. Their "leader" was the worst of them all. He was probably 10 or so and cussed all over the place. His skinny jeans were at his knees and just said a bunch of stuff about Mormons and our holy water, baptismal font, that comes out of a faucet. We explained all that but still nothing with that kid. His little followers rubbed mud on our bikes and one of them took mine and rode it around. I didn't do anything because I figured he would bring it back, which he did and then rode it again.
There was a couple really good kids in there. One was baptized into the Catholic church and was telling them to stop doing all of this stuff. He said sorry to us about all of it and I just said it was alright, we didn't care but that he should find some new friends. I told him that a couple of times. Hopefully he will.
It's kind of hard going through that, only because you can't do anything. It's just a bunch of little kids who probably have a rough home life. Off and on through all of that I just kept thinking about how crappy of a life they are going to have if they keep acting like that.
Anyway, we did find a new investigator. We had a lesson with her yesterday. She is going through some tough times right now and hopefully will keep taking the lessons.
Well, I will write home again, hopefully.
There is a little hike today, I don't know if we are going or not. I'm not sure if I want to or not. We will see. I just see it being up a little hill and "hey look you can see the whole city" cool....

April 30th 2012 (Handwritten)
Hey Mom & Dad !
This was a better P-day. I went to the dentist & all that & got done with everything at 2:15.
I made some artichoke dip today. Elder Harvey had some artichoke hearts he didn't like & there was a jar of mayonnaise in the fridge. I just had shredded Colby Jack & no tomatoes & green onions. It turned out alright though. The mayo is kind of old so we'll see if that does anything to me.
I forgot to get stamps again today so I'm going to have to ask the landlords for one.
I couldn't find the cereal box. I dug around a little bit but didn't see it.
Is Andy getting my e-mails? I still don't know who all you send it to.
We had the chance of getting another "visa waiter" in our companionship today. I'm really glad we didn't. This house just isn't big enough.
This Sunday a family we baptized got confirmed. The mom asked me to confirm her! I was so nervous all week. People said I did good. Elder Harvey said he was impressed cause he didn't have to help me at all. I've noticed I'm better at Spanish, not great but better when it's just me and one person. When I have Elder Harvey as a back up I just let him talk. I still don't teach very well either, even in English. I forget a lot of parts & get all nervous, mostly when I can't think of what's next.
Oh, yeah Dad what was it you didn't like about Herbalife & Nutrilife? There's a ton of people doing that stuff. Also there's Amway going on over here. There's a guy we go out with that's thinking on doing Herbalife.
You can send that candy mom. I might eat some of it as well. Kids always ask for some but I don't know if I want to give it to some of them. Whenever we say we don't have any, some get mad & fussy & hit us.
Yesterday a little kid, 3 or 4 yrs old, said he was going to kick our butts. Well we were leaving & he was chasing us. I rode super slow & then went a little faster. He said "Don't come back!" So we both turned around & I rode fast right for him, thinking he'd run the other way. He didn't. Instead he ran right towards me. I couldn't believe it. Luckily I was far enough it wasn't dangerous. It was pretty funny.
I can't believe you're only going to have Ciana once a week now Mom! That's not enough. How does that all work? Does Amy get done earlier? Tell her how much I love her! And I would like a picture from her! Have her fix Sadie's toe with all of her vet supplies.
Tell Sadie to stop hurting herself. She won't be able to play for awhile if she gets hurt more. Any new tricks?
Oh, have you tried selling that bike yet? Probably at least $65. I can't really think of much else to say. I can never remember what happens in the week.
I love you so much!
Love,
Aaron
Oh, there's the big chunk of tooth & a small piece in there. The brown thing is what I broke it on. It's from Cap'n Crunch's Peanut Butter Crunch. I don't think I'll buy that again! Well, there was a small piece but it just fell out somehow, I think.

Hey Family
Well, another week gone. I had some crazy and funny things happen.
I still don't have my tooth fixed. We went in today to get the permanent crown on. He had to fix it a little bit because it was a little too tight in there. When he was looking at it under a magnifying glass he saw the porcelain was cracked. So, I will be going in again on Wednesday.
Something interesting about the break. They found some decay in there the first time I went in. He said they wouldn't have been able to see that on the x-ray or even in an exam. It would have just gotten worse and worse and then absess (abcess)? (I don't know how to spell anymore!) and I would have had to have a root canal. I might have been in Mexico for that. It feels fine. It wasn't really even sensitive at all this week. I really wish we had more teeth as well. It would be much easier. hahaha.
Yesterday I had some good ole American burgers. Of course they had guacamole on them but close enough. I didn't actually taste the guacamole and they were really good.
It's not too bad with waiting for the visa. It's a lot better knowing I'm not the only one that hasn't gotten it. Sister Miller said she heard they are trying to get missionaries there on their transfer day so if you could find that out. we would probably know when. Not sure though.
I have now taught myself how to ride with no hands! I guess this much time on a bike, you are bound to learn something.
One time we were riding into an apartment parking lot and someone yelled "F*** Mormons!" So I just stuck my fist out kind of like alright good for you. I didn't really think anything of it at first. Harvey rode by and waved at him and he said "What is that some white power thing? You think I'm cursed or something?" I have no idea why I stuck my fist out but it was pretty funny. He already seemed to have his mind made up about us but I hope I didn't make it worse though.
I went on exchanges this week with the District Leader Elder Nonne. Most of the day, nothing really happened. We were close to the end and he was just driving around trying to think of where to go. He stopped and said "I'm lost. I don't know who to go to." I pulled out our planner and looked at the names. I saw this guys name who we hadn't gone by yet. Elder Nonne said they had a meeting with him the next day so they would just go then. Then he said " well, lets just go anyway. We knocked on his door. Elder Nonne kind of backed away. I didn't really know what was happening because I couldn't see the door very well. the guy answered and he was drunk. He let us in saying he didn't want any prayers or anything like that. He just wanted to talk. He said "I'm drunk. OK? I'm sorry." We said it was alright and he then told us he just found out his dad died and if he had had a gun that would be it. This hit me pretty hard. He started talking about it and talking about Vietnam and him getting shot in the head and still living and about his dad and buddy's he had. I just got the feeling to say something. I tried once but he started to talk. Elder Nonne noticed I had something to say and asked if I did. I didn't really know what to say. But I started anyway. I got a really strong feeling to promise him that we were supposed to be there at that exact time to help him through it. I told him about Gramma and that phone call I received in the MTC. I told him I knew she was there with me right then and that he would see his Dad and live with him again. I was struggling through all of that cause for some reason I was crying and couldn't help it.
I don't know if he will remember any of what I said, but I will. It was a really cool experience. I then asked if he had any alcohol. He did, so I asked if he wanted to dump the rest out with us. He said no. He wanted to finish the rest and then he would be done with drinking. Hopefully he will be. I then asked if he did have a gun in the house. I was a little shaken from the first comment he made when we got there. He said "No, you think I'm suicidal or something?" Me: "Well, from what you said earlier I didn't know." Well, that's the highlights from my week.
I love you and miss you all!
I definitely couldn't have finished the Book of Mormon that fast without being out here. I'm still enjoying the cold here for as long as I can. Its really weird in Utah. One day is crazy hot, the next its really cold. I don't get it.
I'm kind of glad you didn't send Sadie's broken toe nail. I have found a lot of her hair in my stuff though. So I guess that's some of her I can take to Mexico! HAHAHA. I do actually wish I could help you with the irrigation.
